Tuesday Netball in Waterloo
Tuesday netball is netball played on Tuesdays. That's how we came up with the name. We don't train, or do trials, or anything like that. We just play games.
We enter teams in competitions run by One Netball at courts between Waterloo and Elephant & Castle. They have several grades, and we tend to enter all of them, so we can take on players of all levels.
Games are early evening, at 6pm, 6:40, or 7:20. Do note the times as unfortunately they are early, and it counts some girls out if they have demanding jobs. They are outdoors, and they tend to play in any weather. They are great courts, with a good surface and there are really nice change rooms and lockers available.
The seasons run for 10 weeks, and as soon as they're over the next one starts. So Tuesday netball runs pretty much all year round. There's no need for dresses on Tuesdays, we have royal blue club shirts, and then girls wear shorts, skirts, skins or whatever they want really. Ideally black, but there's no rules. they are, as you'd expect, fairly strict on nails and jewellery.
We tend to build teams of nine or ten girls, so girls do take a week off here or there. Each team has a captain who makes sure that there are enough players from week to week.
Each season tends to cost between 80 and 90 pounds. It isn't the cheapest of sports to play. But it is a lot of fun. We tend to organise social nights fairly regularly, from a few drinks after a match to a night out on a weekend.
That's about the size of it, for directions to the courts see the Waterloo page.
